Duties and responsibilities:
- Attend and respond to telephonic/email queries by users (staff/students) in the use of various
learning technologies, including, but not limited to, the official Learning Management System
(Blackboard).
- Attend and respond to all user walk-in queries at the computer lab.
- Provide support towards online/blended learning modules on the official Learning Management
System (Blackboard).
- Provide first-line technical support and troubleshooting and support towards technology in teaching
and learning (and more specifically the Learning Management System) for users at the Blackboard
Helpdesk.
- Attend to problems relating to the development of learning material and activities on the UFS Learning
Management System.
- Follow divisional procedures regarding the reporting and follow-up of technical problems,
Troubleshooting, and user support.
- Provide administrative support in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of student and staff
training workshops within the BLISS focus area.
- Assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of training workshops regarding the use of
technology in teaching and learning.
- Provide general administrative, logistical, and research support for various BLISS projects.
- Enrol staff and students in specific modules on the UFS Learning Management System
- Follow divisional procedure regarding module administration (module creation/user enrolment) on the
UFS Learning Management System.
Inherent Job Requirements:
• Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate on NQF level 4.
Recommendations:
• Post school qualification.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in the use of an LMS (e.g. Student Assistant/Research Assistant/Teaching Assistant/Tutor/EduTech Buddy/Intern)
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in training and/or research administration.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in a higher education environment.
