Job Description
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities within Farm Foods, Modderrivier. Taking accountability for ensuring that all facilities and equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and upgraded to ensure smooth operations and long-term functionality, prioritising preventative maintenance. The Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for managing a team of technicians and allocating resources effectively and the maintenance and upgrading of the facility to ensure continuous production and safety.

Requirements

  • Relevant Technical Diploma (Mechanical or Electrical)/ Degree in Mechanical- or Electrical Engineering.
  • GCC Accreditation/ Registration will serve as recommendation.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mill / factory Maintenance Environments FMCG
  • Candidate should be a self-starter with innovative technical abilities with strong people skills in order to effectively lead and manage a diverse group of individuals.
  • Analytical abilities and experience in resolve plant breakdowns.
  • Knowledge of the OHSAct essential to ensure all legal requirements are adhered too.
  • Experience in spares management for engineering.
  • Ability to handle challenging objectives.
  • Must be a team player - priositising the VKB Groups Values: Humble, Hungry, Smart and Bold.
  • Computer literate with strong knowledge of Pragma plant maintenance program.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a proactive maintenance strategy to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and new installations, ensuring that 100% uptime of factory equipment is available to production through preventative and corrective maintenance;
  • Manage and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and mentoring to ensure they meet performance goals.
  • Create maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with minimal disruption to daily operations.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee the repair and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and maintain optimal efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and coordinate maintenance activities in line with production or project schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and equipment and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure timely availability of required items for maintenance.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and new installations, ensuring that 100% uptime of factory equipment is available to production through preventative and corrective maintenance;
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential upgrades or replacements.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance department's budget, including forecasting costs, optimizing spending, and recommending capital expenditures as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and other relevant documentation.
